BluPine Energy Signs 25-Year PPA with SECI for 150 MW Solar Project in Rajasthan, Pioneers Energy Storage Integration

Mumbai: BluPine Energy has inked a landmark 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 150 MW solar power project integrated with an Energy Storage System (ESS) in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district. The agreement marks a significant step toward bolstering India’s clean energy ambitions and enhancing the reliability of renewable power.

The project will be developed through BluPine’s Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), Solarcraft Power India 17 Private Limited, and is part of SECI’s broader plan to procure 2,000 MW of power from Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected solar projects with 1,000 MW/4,000 MWh energy storage capacities.

This agreement aligns with India’s national goal of reaching 500 GW of non-fossil-based energy capacity by 2030, as outlined in the country’s commitment to decarbonization and energy transition.

“Our 150 MW solar project with integrated energy storage is designed to deliver firm, dispatchable clean power—addressing intermittency and enhancing grid stability,” said Neerav Nanavaty, CEO of BluPine Energy. “By combining cutting-edge solar technologies with advanced storage solutions, we aim to power India’s future with reliability and resilience.”

The project’s energy storage integration follows the Ministry of Power’s February 2025 mandate, which seeks to tackle the intermittency challenges of renewable sources and ensure energy availability during peak demand periods. It also enables round-the-clock (RTC) power availability, a critical aspect for the stability of India’s future green energy grids.

BluPine Energy secured the PPA under SECI’s competitive bidding process initiated through RfS No. SECI/C&P/IPP/11/0011/24-25, released on July 31, 2024.

The Bikaner-based solar-plus-storage project is expected to serve as a benchmark for similar hybrid energy initiatives across India. As the nation pivots towards a cleaner energy economy, integrated projects like this one are vital in overcoming storage and distribution barriers traditionally associated with solar power.
