New Delhi: The Mobius Foundation is gearing up to host the 6th International Conference on Sustainability Education (ICSE) on September 19-20, 2024, at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. This significant event will serve as a platform for global experts, educators, policymakers, and students to converge and deliberate on the crucial role of sustainability education in shaping a sustainable future.

The conference, themed “Greening Education for a Sustainable Future,” is in sync with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mission LiFE initiative. It aims to foster a culture of environmental consciousness and action by integrating Mission LiFE’s principles into the realm of sustainability education.

The two-day conference boasts a lineup of keynote addresses, power talks, round-table discussions, and panel sessions led by thought leaders and sustainability champions from various fields. Notably, Mr. Tim Curtis, Director of UNESCO’s Regional Office in New Delhi, will grace the event as Chief Guest, further emphasizing the event’s importance.

Day 1 of the conference will feature a Vice Chancellors’ Round Table and an Educators Round Table, focusing on the critical roles universities and educators play in advancing sustainable education. The day will also include in-depth discussions on green chemistry’s role in addressing plastic pollution and integrating circular economy principles into education.

Day 2 will shine a spotlight on youth involvement in sustainability with the “Youth for Earth Award Ceremony,” recognizing young individuals’ innovative projects and leadership. The day’s agenda also includes a Youth Conclave, focusing on green job pathways and sustainable fashion, along with sessions on cutting-edge technologies in sustainability education and ocean stewardship strategies. The conference will culminate with the felicitation of Padma Shri Jadav Payeng, the “Forest Man of India,” followed by closing remarks from Dr. Rajendra Singh, Magsaysay Awardee and Chairman of the People’s World Commission on Drought and Flood.

This conference promises to be a vital forum for driving the conversation on sustainability education and its crucial role in creating a greener, more sustainable future.
