New Delhi — Lokdhun Telemedia Private Limited, a regional music company known for Punjabi and Bhojpuri content, has joined Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL) India effective April 1, 2026, ending its association with Recorded Music Performance Limited (RMPL).
Founded in 2016 and based in New Delhi, Lokdhun manages a catalog of more than 80,000 tracks. Its portfolio includes sub-labels such as Wave Music and Lokdhun Punjabi. The company’s releases include popular tracks like “Lollipop Lagelu,” which has gained significant digital viewership, according to the announcement.
PPL India, a public performance licensing organization representing more than 500 music labels, said Lokdhun’s addition expands its regional repertoire. “Lokdhun’s catalogue has shaped the soundscape of Punjabi and Bhojpuri music across generations. Their joining significantly strengthens PPL India’s regional repertoire and reinforces our commitment to transparent and effective licensing for music owners,” the organization said.
Lokdhun said the move is intended to support licensing and monetization of its catalog. “We are pleased to partner with PPL India and join a structured licensing ecosystem that supports fair monetisation and wider reach of our catalogue across platforms,” the company said.
The shift reflects ongoing changes in India’s music licensing sector, with companies aligning under different licensing bodies to manage public performance rights. The move is expected to affect how Lokdhun’s catalog is licensed for public use across venues and platforms.
