New Delhi: Manoj Bajpayee the co-producer and the lead actor of “Bhonsle” won the National Film Award for the Best Actor category. The winners of the National Film Awards were announced today in Delhi. The National Film Awards is the most prominent film award ceremony in India. Manoj Bajpayee has also won two National Film Awards in the past.
Bhonsle is a movie produced by Golden Ratio Films, Manoj Bajpayee Productions, Promodome Motion Pictures and Saurabh Gupta. Golden Ratio Films is a Film Production and Distribution arm of the renowned Singapore-based Media Investment entity, Vistas Media Capital (VMC). The movie revolves around a police constable played by Manoj Bajpayee who lives in a chawl and wants to extend his service. Set in the backdrop is the Ganesh Chaturthi festival where Constable Bhonsle befriends a North Indian girl and her brother who are targeted among other migrants by local politicians. The film strongly highlights the reality of migrant politics and the challenges that come along. With sensitive cinematography, the film builds curiosity well as it goes along. Bhonsle won the Critics’ Choice Award, Asia Pacific Screen Award and was nominated in 2 categories for the Filmfare OTT Awards.

National Film Award winning entries are decided by the government with the help of a national pane appointed by them. The award ceremony takes place in New Delhi, where the President of India presents the awards. This is followed by the inauguration of the National Film Festival, where the award-winning films are screened for the public.
