Wayanad is gearing up to host the Global Livestock Conclave from December 20 to 29 at Pookode Veterinary College, an event expected to significantly impact the dairy, cattle, and pet industries. J. Chinchurani, Kerala’s Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development, highlighted the conclave’s importance during the recent logo unveiling ceremony.
“This conclave will be pivotal in advancing our livestock sector, creating employment opportunities, and inspiring youth to consider careers in agriculture,” Chinchurani stated. As the largest event of its kind in India, the conclave aims to showcase the latest technologies and value-added products across livestock, poultry, dairy, and aquafarming sectors.
Organized by the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU), the conclave is anticipated to draw around 500,000 attendees, including representatives from agricultural organizations, veterinary professionals, and industry experts. The ten-day event will feature stalls spread over two lakh square feet, highlighting pets, livestock, dairy farming, aquaculture, and poultry.
KVASU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anil K.S. and Director Prof. Dr. T.S. Rajiv also emphasized the conclave’s potential to create more than 25,000 jobs within the livestock and animal husbandry sectors. “Participants will gain valuable insights into emerging trends and innovations, which will help elevate productivity across these fields,” Prof. Rajiv noted.
In addition to exhibitions, the conclave will offer expert-led seminars and workshops on modern animal husbandry techniques, marketing of value-added products, and strategies for disease prevention in animals. This comprehensive approach aims to promote sustainable growth and development within Kerala’s livestock industry, further strengthening the state’s economy.
