Pune: Finolex Cables, a prominent name in the wire and cables sector, has launched a new series of E-Beam irradiated LT XLPE Solar Cables. These cables offer enhanced resistance to UV rays and ozone and are manufactured in-house at Finolex’s new state-of-the-art E-Beam facility in Pune, leveraging advanced electron beam technology.
This strategic investment in the E-Beam facility is part of a larger Rs 500 crore capex plan previously announced by the company. This plan includes expanding manufacturing capacities, adopting advanced technologies, and strengthening supply chain infrastructure.
Designed to excel in challenging environments, these innovative solar cables can operate at temperatures up to 120°C. Their higher current ratings and superior durability make them well-suited for demanding industrial uses and large-scale solar projects. Furthermore, these cables are halogen-free and environmentally friendly, minimizing the release of toxic fumes during a fire.
In comparison to traditional chemical curing methods, E-Beam technology significantly enhances the insulating properties of the cables. This allows them to handle higher voltages with a reduced radial thickness, thereby extending their lifespan to over 25 years. This technology is now operational in-house and will be utilized for various upcoming products from Finolex Cables.
